About Dr. Akila-Ka Ma'at
Founder/CEO (also publishes as Jennifer R. Warren)
Over 30 years, I have realized that all of the health research and prevention activities mean nothing if personal transformation is not possible. This space enables self-realization, actualization, and power that fuels self-determination, necessary for any real change in all areas of life
My primary research activities were to understand intersecting systems of racial oppression on the outside and from within. These systems not only cause disease, premature aging, and death but also increase these outcomes exponentially among Black and Brown women. So, while I studied barriers to reproductive health, maternal mental and perinatal and infant health, infectious disease prevention, cardiovascular health, and inequitable social determinants of health, including housing and poverty, I came to realize that society itself was making us sick.
To make transformative changes that aid in building healthy lives, we must integrate alternative health strategies that reveal the harms of intersecting systems of oppression and foster divinely-infused personal power and the capacity to speak into existence a life that we manifest, not the life this society wants us to live and die by.

I, myself, am free (an ongoing process). I am no longer living in fear of 'being' that which I AM. I see all the external and internal distractions that keep us sick and separated from our true nature—a powerful spiritual entity.
